Hyo-Seok Lee (1907~1942)
He was born in Pyong Chang city in 1907. He majored in English at Seoul university. He started his writing career by publishing a short story, " A city and a ghost" in 1928. After became a professor at Sung Sil college in Pyong Yang in 1934, he published "When The Buckwheat Blooms", one of the best short stories in Korea. He wrote the story inspired by the villagers in his hometown. He wrote many other short stories such as "Karma", "Memory", "Nostalgia", and others.
He was so much frustrated by the death of his wife and his second son in 1940 that he died of disease in 1942.
